Venture Founder

The founder, Jamela Peterson, is an entrepreneur and global citizen, leveraging social enterprises to build a greater humanity. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Davidson College and was a recipient of the Arnold Snider $200,000 full-merit scholarship. Jamela also has a diverse background in business, nonprofits, government, healthcare, and education— which ranges from spearheading neighborhood revitalization projects with Habitat for Humanity to conducting community health assessments at the Sedgwick County Health Department. In 2014, a business development internship with Afara Global sparked and shaped her passion for social entrepreneurship. In this position, she traveled to Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya, and South Africa to study business ecosystems and innovation in various incubators, hubs, and accelerators. Based on her education and experience, she built a platform and curriculum, geared towards K-12 students, to expose youth to entrepreneurship concepts at an early age. In 2016 she founded SocialPreneur Lab® to give students the opportunity to experience social entrepreneurship by launching a startup of their own.
