Cherripick

Venture Overview

Cherripick’s mission is to reduce CO₂ emissions by diverting food waste from landfills while feeding low-to-moderate-income households. Founder Marco Ignacio grew up food-insecure and started selling candy from his backpack just to afford lunch. With degrees in Business Management, Marketing, and Sport Management—and raised in a zero-waste household—he was driven to act after learning that 16 billion pounds of groceries go to waste annually. Cherripick provides food retailers with a digital clearance rack connected to a community of budget and environmentally-conscious shoppers, helping stores reduce waste and lost revenue while expanding food access.

Venture Founder

Marco Ignacio grew up food insecure, unable to afford lunch at school, so he started selling candy out of his backpack, just to be able to eat. He is focused on solving "white flag" problems - those that customers have surrendered to. He earned a bachelor's in Business management and marketing, and a master's in sport management. He grew up in a zero-waste household, so when he found out of the 16 billion lbs. of groceries go to waste while marketing groceries at Winn-Dixie, he just had to build Cherripick. When not building Cherripick, he enjoys traveling to taste the world, playing games with friends, and learning one new thing each day.
