Geni

Venture Overview

Geni is an education software platform that enables teachers to quickly create personalized digital math assignments using images, text, and audio aligned to each student’s interests and cultural context. As students engage, Geni provides real-time insights into where learners struggle and guidance on how to explain concepts more effectively—supporting differentiated instruction at scale and improving engagement and math outcomes. Co-Founder Philip Montgomery was motivated by late nights helping his younger sister with math and seeing how generic worksheets fail many learners, especially neurodivergent students. A Presidential Scholar in Computer Science at the University of Illinois, he researched AI for nuclear reactor safety before applying responsible AI to personalized learning; Geni has been selected for iVenture and received VELA funding, and Philip has spoken to 500+ microschool founders at the VELA Conference.
