Bevell's Advocate: Advocacy Starts at Home
A Mission Rooted in Personal Experience
For Morgan, the mission is personal.
Her sister has a specific learning disability, and from an early age, Morgan saw how overwhelming the special education process could be for families. She watched her mother navigate the experience of having a child on an Individualized Education Program, often called an IEP.
Years later, Morgan befriended Grace, her young neighbor with Down syndrome. As Grace and her family began facing many of the same challenges Morgan had seen in her own family, Morgan felt called to act.
That experience became the foundation for Bevell’s Advocate.
The organization was created to help break the cycle of confusion and isolation for families by offering the support, knowledge, and advocacy that parents need to better navigate their child’s education.
Helping Families Advocate
Bevell’s Advocate supports families through one-on-one coaching, educational record reviews, communication support, access to specialists and resources, and guidance throughout the special education process.
The organization works alongside parents to help them understand their child’s needs, prepare for school conversations, advocate for appropriate services, and ensure that educational supports are being implemented effectively.
By helping parents feel more informed and supported, Bevell’s Advocate aims to reduce stress while improving outcomes for both children and families.
Building Early Momentum
In its first year, Bevell’s Advocate has already assisted more than 35 families in varying capacities.
Over the next 12 months, the organization plans to grow significantly, with a goal of serving more than 500 families navigating special needs parenting.
To support that growth, Bevell’s Advocate is seeking volunteers, team members, and introductions to organizations that serve children with special needs.
What’s Next
Bevell’s Advocate is focused on expanding its reach, building partnerships, and helping more families access the tools and support they need to advocate with confidence.
The long-term vision is to ensure that children with disabilities have stronger access to quality education, meaningful support, and opportunities to thrive.
For Morgan, this work is about more than services. It is about helping families feel seen, informed, and supported as they fight for the futures their children deserve.
