Dr. Kala Fleming is an innovator and engineer on a mission to scale workforce investments that catalyze the development of more resilient communities and individuals. She holds 10 patents, has more than 30 peer-reviewed papers and currently leads the climate workforce startup - Frontline Gig. Dr. Fleming previously held strategy and research roles at IBM, working with clients to establish differentiated market positions via emerging technologies such as IoT, AI and blockchain.
She delivered a TED talk on creating digital groundwater aquifers and has advised governments on innovation and workforce strategy on four continents. Dr. Fleming holds a PhD in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has lived and worked in the US, the Caribbean, Kenya, Ghana, and the Philippines and is a frequent speaker at entrepreneurship, international development, and innovation-related events.
